A Phone Nurse is available each day to speak with you about concerns and questions, and to help you determine whether your child should be seen in the office.

WHAT IF MY CHILD HAS A PROBLEM DURING OFF-HOURS?
We encourage you to refer to this website (Is your Child Sick?) or our practice booklet, "The Owners Manual".. They contain the answers to many common questions you may have regarding your child. On weeknights and Saturdays, one of our doctors is on call to respond to urgent problems or questions that cannot wait until office hours. Dial our office number to reach the answering service. The on call doctor will return your call, usually within 20-30 minutes. If you need to speak with someone on a Sunday, week night after 10PM, or on a holiday, your call will be returned by a nurse-specialist at The Children's Hospital. One of our doctors is always available, even on Sundays and Holidays, for hospital admissions and all inpatient needs.

WHO CARES FOR MY NEW BABY IN THE HOSPITAL?
If you deliver at Swedish, Littleton, Parker Adventist, or Sky Ridge Hospitals, the hospital nursery notifies our office. One of our doctors will then visit you and your baby. If you use another hospital where our doctors are not on staff, the hospital's staff pediatrician will see your baby. We will then resume care for your baby after he or she is discharged from the hospital.

WHAT ARE WELL CHILD CARE VISITS?
The well child care visit consists of a complete physical examination, assessments of your child's growth and development, immunizations, lab tests, and counseling. These visits are your opportunity to take advantage of your care team's unique knowledge of children and their development. During these visits, your provider will discuss your child's diet, development, behavior, sleep, social skills, and more. Well child care visits are normally scheduled at 2 weeks of age, then again at 2,4,6,9,12,15, and 18 months of age, then yearly until age 6 years, and then every other year thereafter.

WHICH INSURANCE PLANS DOES THE OFFICE ACCEPT?
We see all private third party insured patients, and we also contract with many managed care insurance companies (HMO, PPO, EPO, etc.). Because of the increasing complexity of managed care insurance plans, we ask that each family take responsibility to call your employer or your insurance company to verify that our doctors are providers within your particular plan. Note to parents of newborns: you must contact your insurance company to add your baby to your health plan. You have a limited time within which to do this or your baby will not receive health insurance benefits.
